Artist Statement
This year in photography has been a introduction and learning year. I have learned about how photographers use lighting and motion to improve their images and how rules of composition make your image look that much better. I am working on these skills and I am trying to improve upon these as well. I still want to learn how to properly use blur motion and changing the camera controls. I would like to be able to use my camera fully and not lack full skill.
Composition and how you use your camera and how you change up your images. One example of this would be color. The best example of this came in the Color Composition photoshoot we did. Using blue as the main focus made me think about how color can change your view. I used color, shape, close and far, and plenty others to improve my images and create a different view of the world or the object that was being used. My best rule of composition would have to be color because of the photoshoot I mentioned above. That photoshoot improved my use of color in images.
The favorite photoshoot so far would have to be the color composition and my least favorite would have to be blur motion because I am not very good at blur motion. I use objects I personally like or have found memories over for these photoshoots. I have used my dog multiple times because my dog is one of my favorite parts of my life. These photoshoots are just images, but they have a lasting impact on you. I have recalled on plenty of memories in photography class and 2D art than any other class I have been in.
My most successful project would have to be the color composition photoshoot that I have talked about a lot in this. The use of color came naturally to me and it helped me to create a nice photoshoot. On the other hand, motion blur has not come as easily to me and color did. I struggled on making only one object in focus with the rest being blurry. I rode the struggle bus during that photoshoot unfortunately. I still want to improve upon my skills with rule of composition and using motion blur correctly and not creating a full blurry image.
