Parody Reflection
During this photoshoot, I copied the style of a famous artist and photographer, David Hockney. I took pictures of nature like Hockney did. I took numerous pictures of one subject and turned it into a "joiner" (a photo collage.) Some pictures were of playground equipment, others were about nature and the different types of nature. I tried to create a variety of different scenes and objects to make this photoshoot interesting. Overall, I tried to use different scenery and objects to create different moods and reactions to my art.
I used rules of composition such as close and far, rule of thirds, and avoiding distractions to help improve my photoshoot. Using these made this photoshoot much better than other one's I have done in the past and it is a major step for me in becoming great at photography. I used elements such as color and texture to improve my images as well. These were used in the close up images and sometimes in the far away images. I tried to use Hockney's different color scheme strategy in this as well. Hockney had many different colors for one object in his art and I was going for that too.
I chose my subjects by looking at what Hockney did and going for the same style, but with different and interesting objects. Some of them were memorable to me as well, such as the swing set at the playground I went to when I was younger. I was able to add these into this photoshoot because they were a part of nature. I used these as my voice, my own personal opinion and things that were nice or interesting, for this. This assignment let me see that you can express your feelings through art and show others what is meaningful to you.
I think one of my strengths in the photoshoot was having many different subjects to use and create into a joiner. Although my skills in creating a photo collage are lacking to say the least, I still thought I did a pretty nice job on this photoshoot. This photoshoot was enjoyable for me because I got to take some pictures in the normal sunny day and others in the snow. If I were to change anything though, I would of taken more pictures with color and texture. Even though some pictures were lacking in color or texture, it still was a fun and worthwhile experience for me.
