Rules of Composition Reflection
During this photoshoot, I ended up taking pictures near houses and inside objects that were different. I chose this because of the texture and complexity of these objects. I believe that these makes good pictures and scenes when you have textures in your objects. I went around my neighborhood and a few spots downtown to find pictures with texture and a sense of uniqueness. Many places in my
neighborhood had areas that made for some good pictures. I set up my scenes by getting down low or taking a normal viewed picture and grabbing items and moving them to make the image have an interesting
aspect to it. These scenes helped my images (I believe) and it made it interesting.
The rules of composition we used gave me better images by making them stand out. Before this Photoshoot, I would only take pictures straight on
and not having any angles or interesting things in them. This is a major upgrade in my picture taking career. The elements that I used were random items and the backgrounds to give a new "layer" to the image. This helped my images to become better,
and although they weren't perfect or good in that matter, it still helped me to learn how to take better pictures.
The subjects that I chose were stuffed animals/real animals and the outdoors. I had a big focus on outdoors and animals for this Photoshoot
because those are a few of my favorite things. I incorporated my voice by adding things that I liked and getting angles that show the objects well. I did things such as close ups on my dog
because I wanted people to know that I love my dog and objects such as trees to tell people I like the outdoors. This assignment helped me to view my world differently by giving me a new view on outdoors and animals. Before, I just like the outdoors and
now I truly want to go outside and spend more time with my dog than I have in the past.
Even though this assignment was fun, I had many weaknesses. This was the first time I had really gotten into photography, causing my images to have many distractions
and there was too much diversity (mostly my house). I was trying to show my house and give it a cool look, but it ended in me having too little
diversity. My other weakness was using few objects in my house and outdoors. I took pictures from too far away and it caused some of the
images to not look as well and they could of.
The thing I would of changed about this assignment would be getting better angles and having less distractions. These two weaknesses
definitely caused this Photoshoot to be worse than it could of been. I would of taken more down low or up high images compared to my normal
pictures in the Photoshoot. Finally, I would of gotten around to more places than just my house, as that made this Photoshoot kind of bad in my
opinion.
